Well, I’ve ditched the old idea for the next book (22k words!) and I’m developing a brand new story. I decided that sometimes it’s better to start fresh than try and fix something that’s not hitting the mark. However, I won’t delete the other idea, because you never know, I might be able to find a way to make it work one day.
So now I’m writing a book with three female characters, all keeping secrets – all pretty big, but one is a whopper! I sent my agent a quick one-page outline and she’s given it the green light, so now all I need to do is get some chapters down. The only problem is, I often spend ages working out where the best place to start is. I reckon the police knocking on one of my protagonist’s doors should be a pretty solid opening, but we’ll see…
